On the 2nd and 3rd of November, 2023, the GRAPHERGIA coordinator, Foundation For Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), gathered the project consortium members for a kick-off meeting organized at their premises in Patras, Greece.
GRAPHERGIA is a research and innovation project, co-funded by the European Union under HorizonEurope Programme, that will run for 3,5 years, with a total budget of 4.5M€. It aims to craft a novel and holistic approach to seamlessly process, deploy and marry graphene-based materials and nanohybrids under sustainable and ecofriendly processes to produce energy harvesting and storage devices benefiting industry and society.
During the two meeting dates, the 11 project partners aligned their initial working plan, fixed the objectives for the first project year, and discussed the potential challenges to be managed.
Also, the GRAPHENE Flagship, coordination and support action co-funded by the European Union, joined the meeting remotely to discuss how GRAPHERGIA will contribute to the European ecosystem of graphene-related innovation and research projects.
The meeting ended with an on-site visit to Adamant Composites Ltd (ADA), an SME partner in the project that manufactures graphene-coated objects for varied industries. Their site hosts pilot lines that will be deployed and fine-tuned further in the framework of the GRAPHERGIA use cases. Partners were satisfied to see this site and parts of their production lines to understand better how these will be implemented in the project.
This meeting was very productive and enlightening on the research strategies for the different work packages. The GRAPHERGIA team is motivated to launch this innovative collaboration for the greener and more sustainable energies of tomorrow!
